“A Canadian songwriting legend in the making” – CBC Music

“Lightfoot’s most accomplished music yet” – PopMatters

“Perfectly suited for stadium-sized crowds” – Exclaim!

With her bold new album New Mistakes, Terra Lightfoot offers up something rare: the kind of genuine document that can only come from a road-tested breed of songwriter and performer. Shot through with the guitarist-vocalist’s powerful, bluesy soul, vivid lyrics and ferocious six-string virtuosity, it’s an unforgettable outing. From the ground-shaking stomp of “Paradise” and wild-eyed energy of “Pinball King” that open the set to the psychedelic, gospel-tinged album closer “Lonesome Eyes,” the steeltown native’s third record distills her masterful talent to its electrifying essence. Built around Lightfoot’s killer live band — Maury LaFoy (bass), Joel Haynes (drums) and Jeff Heisholt (keyboards) — the session impresses on all counts. It’s Lightfoot’s hungriest and most raw album to date, and she will be supporting it with worldwide touring in 2017-2018. That touring is currently taking her though Japan and Australia, and will send her to the UK, returning to play Toronto's legendary Massey Hall, opening for Whitehorse.

On Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13, Terra Lightfoot will stage her hotly anticipated return to McMaster University’s LIVELab. Fans last witnessed Lightfoot at this state-of-the-art venue for two orchestral shows with Boris Brott and the National Academy Orchestra (captured on Lightfoot’s early 2017 release, Live in Concert). Two years after her last LIVELab appearances, Terra Lightfoot returns to the venue for an encore of sorts —  two rare and special hometown shows where she will be joined by an ensemble of string musicians from the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, plus guests. This will be the latest cross-genre collaboration for the HPO, which has long staged vibrant and innovative musical pairings with emerging local artists as part of their Indie Series in addition to buzzworthy match-ups at Supercrawl.

With finite capacity in the LIVELab, access to this exceptional evening with Terra Lightfoot and members of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra — part of the facility’s Series 10dB concert season — is extremely limited.

Tickets (general admission, standing only, all-ages) are $30 regular, $20 students (plus all applicable service charges), on sale now — online via Showpass and in person at Dr. Disc (20 Wilson St., Hamilton) as well as Into The Abyss (119 Locke St. S., Hamilton).

Located within the McMaster Institute for Music & the Mind, the LIVELab is a unique 100-seat research performance hall designed to investigate the experience of music, dance, multimedia presentations, and human interaction (LIVE stands for Large Interactive Virtual Environment). One of the most sophisticated, high-tech concert venues in the world, the $8-million LIVELab is equipped with a state-of-the-art Constellation sound system, designed in Berkeley, California by Meyer Sound, and tailored for the room. The remarkable results were made possible by eight years of planning and two years of construction — but brought to life by the outstanding talents of Terra Lightfoot and the HPO.
